There are some days when you’re a parent, which is definitely more stressful than others. It’s all one big learning curve that we’re traveling along together, and you can guarantee that on the days that it feels like it’s all getting too much, there will be at least a handful of other moms in a five-mile radius who are feeling exactly the same as yofive-milehat brings us together and unites parents as friends; we’re all going through this together. However, there are some stresses which can definitely be avoided with a little bit of planning.
Quit The Shopping Tantrums
If you’ve never walked down an aisle with your kid in the trolley crying and wanting to get out then you’re one of the lucky ones. It seems to be a recurring theme with most parents, and so shopping either gets rushed through or left completely, making things harder when you get home. Instead of getting yourself geared up to face the weekly shop, think about the online groceries & delivery option that you can get from most stores to help to ease the situation. It’s something that can be done while the kids are in bed and you can gather your thoughts; it may help to still have a shopping list beside you to ensure that you are getting everything that you need. Then it’s simply a case of organizing a day suitable for yourself for delivery.
Prep The Food
Batch cooking is becoming a big hit among parents, and not just because of the convenience of it all. It’s a day where you cook enough meals to last you for the week, and simply reheat as and when you need them. It means that you can spend more time with your children focusing on the things that matter rather than slaving away in the kitchen or nipping out to get dinner. It’s cost-effective and will help you to save money over time due to the lack of waste – everything simply gets dished out over the days. There are some great batch-cook recipes online if you are stumped for ideas or fancy mixing things up a bit.
Have A Plan
Even if you don’t like sticking to a routine, a lot of the time children do. It can be a bit of a Catch 22 situation, but as long as you have a rough plan of what you’re going to be doing on each day then at least you can adapt it if it’s not going to be suitable. It’s not to say that you need to have a meticulous regime that is stuck to, but as long as you have things to be getting on with during the day and some form of structure, it tends to really help gauge how stressful the day is going to be.
Parenting isn’t an easy feat, and we need to sometimes cut the corners and take shortcuts wherever we can to help us get through it all. However you run things, just remember: you’re doing great.
