As a mom I often wonder about different scenarios that could happen if I was with my kids, and my car decided to act up and give me trouble. Sometimes my husband, goes out-of-town for work so if something did happen and I got check engine light what would I do? Do I call AAA? Do I call my local auto parts store? Maintaining a car can become very expensive, especially if you do not know anything about cars. I can’t tell you the times I have gone to a mechanic only to be told something else is wrong with my car, or they try to up sell me on a different parts. So when I started looking through Cars.com, I was amazed at the amount of resources they have on their website.
DIY Car Repairs
I love learning about new things, especially if in the long run it could save my family money. Let’s face it over time oil changes, and tune ups can cost a lot of money down the road. Cars.com has a section on their website with videos on how to do all of these simple tasks that can help you save money. I was super excited they have these, they are super explanatory and they have everything in one place. I cannot tell you how many times I have looked up videos on YouTube, only to have to weed through different videos to get to what I want.
Now I can surprise my husband by changing the oil in my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport with this video!

All in One Car Research
Buying a car in general can be a big headache, and when you are researching models, features, prices etc it can be an added stress. Everything you need to know about the car you are interested in you can find on Cars.com. So instead of pulling up three different sites, you can get everything on one site, from prices, features, maintenance costs it is all there. I personally hope next year we can get a used Honda Odyssey, so I did some research of my own it was super easy and simple. Car salesmen better beware if I come into a dealership, I will be ready! Here is the link if you are looking into a van for your family and want a Honda Odyssey as well. https://www.cars.com/research/honda-odyssey-2013/
Car Seat Safety Checks
As a parent one of my main concerns is always the safety of my children, and let’s face it while you are on the road even if you are a safe driver. You have no idea how the people around you drive, or if they are paying attention to the road. However having your child properly buckled in their car seat, and having the car seat installed properly in your car could be the difference between life and death. I know I personally on different occasions thought my kid’s car seats were properly installed and they were not. On Cars.com you can watch videos on how to install your kid’s car seats, and check them. They have videos for different makes and models of cars, which I think is wonderful. Before they always used to tell me to go to our nearest fire house, so that the fire fighters could do car seat checks, love that there is a quicker resource for parents. To check to see if your car seat is installed properly, or to see how to install a car seat in your car visit https://www.cars.com/news/car-seat-check/
