December is going to be an amazing month, and I am not just saying that because Christmas is around the corner. I am saying it because Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out December 15, 2017, and on December 16th, Galactic Nights starts at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort.
I had the privilege of attending a preview of the new Star Tours –The Adventures Continue, and I have to say, you are going to be blown away. You will blast off on a thrilling tour of the Star Wars galaxy aboard a Starspeeder 1000. You may even encounter Kylo Ren or be thrust into a furious battle on Crait—an all-new planet from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. You will also discover a thrilling new journey to the farthest reaches of space and find yourselves landing unexpectedly on a planet in the outer rim of the Star Wars galaxy – a planet known to C-3PO, and now to us, as Batuu.
If you need a refresher, here is the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi
“This remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe haven for those intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order. While Batuu may be new to us, it is clearly already familiar to many characters from the Star Wars saga as a stepping off point for epic adventures.” (Quoted by Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering)
Along with the new Star Tours, you can also expect to see a one of a kind projection show as the Hollywood Tower Hotel is transformed with state-of-the-art projections, special effects and lighting to depict spectacular destinations from across the Star Wars galaxy.
Disney announced that there will be some special guests that will be appearing for Inside the Saga: A Galaxy in the Making, a one of a kind panel. David Collins – a voice actor known for his work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story—will be hosting and includes an expert panel of team members from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, including:
- Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering
- Robin Reardon, Executive Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering
- Chris Beatty, Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering
- Doug Chiang, VP/Creative Director at Lucasfilm
- Be on the lookout. You may get a chance to see Warwick Davis as well.
They’ll take you around the galaxy and inside the making of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This 14-acre expansion is scheduled to open in 2019 at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
As if all of this news wasn’t already amazing, the food that you are going to be able to buy at Galactic Nights is out of this world. I was able to sample them and they are as mouth watering as they look!
Let’s face it. The Star Wars fan inside of me is internally screaming “this would be the best Christmas package ever”! A night at the movies and then Galactic Nights, it doesn’t get any better than that!
