We all love to binge watch a show. Some do it every other day, and some choose a series now and again. Binging to some means watching the entire series in less than a week, and for others, it’s watching it over the course of the month. We each have our preferences when it comes to genre; you can choose documentaries, sitcoms, game shows or fantasy. Perhaps it’s time for you to try something new that you wouldn’t usually try, and something that is more for you than your kids. A here’s a list of what to watch this month.
Stranger Things
When a boy disappears in a small, unsuspecting town, his three friends, mother and the police chief uncover a mysterious maze of unanswered questions involving secret government experiments with supernatural forces and a strange little girl with powers no one quite understands. Set in the eighties, Stranger Things is full of pop culture references, quick wit, and more than a few terrifying creatures.
Friends
What better thing to watch over valentine’s day than the romantic tale of Ross and Rachel? Follow the tale of six friends as they deal with life in New York, love, loss and classic sitcom humour is the topic of the day. Friends is a show that needs little introduction, and sometimes rewatching an old favourite is just what the doctor ordered.
Fullmetal Alchemist
A failed alchemical ritual, done in the attempts of bringing back their mother, two brothers are left with severely damaged bodies. Patched together Edward and Alphonse Elric set about searching for the one thing that can fix what they have lost; the legendary philosopher’s stone. Unfortunately, things are not all they seem, and the people wielding such power are never going to give it up without a fight. This anime series is a perfect starter series to anyone new to anime and a classic for those who love the animated style.
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
A comic, science fiction detective series featuring an eccentric amateur sleuth Dirk Gently and his reluctant assistant Todd. They haphazardly solve a mysterious crime that neither of them is sure of, untangling impossible circumstances with no direction. This series is a mystery like no other with even the detectives unsure of the particulars of the case.
Riverdale
Based on the Archie Comics story, follow the adapted tales of the gang through the mysterious death of the town’s golden boy. Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead navigate the world of teenage, high school life while uncovering the dark history of more than one family. While a modern show, the overall 50s influence is reminiscent of the original stories and creates a feeling of nostalgia in a time when everything is anything but milkshakes and school dances.
Black Mirror
A sci-fi series which explores a twisted, high-tech but near-future reality where humanity’s greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide. Not for the faint-hearted, Black Mirror is full of suspense, satirical humour and unafraid of delving into the dark depths of human depravity.
