Disney’s Blizzard Beach has the best theme and a really fun back story. It was once a ski resort that has now been melted away into the waterpark it is today. The “cool” theme creates lots of interesting visuals that work well with the Florida heat. Blizzard Beach is home to Mount Gushmore, one of the tallest and fastest water-slides in the world. That is not to say this park does not have plenty of family fun for even the littlest travelers. Here are all the great things everybody is able to do at Blizzard Beach.
I went with both of my kids by myself who are three and six years old, and I have to say I really enjoyed the fact that Blizzard Beach was a slower pace than Typhoon Lagoon. It is definitely a great water park for families with smaller kids, the boys really enjoyed there time at the park. Here are a couple of the rides Blizzard Beach offers:
Cross Country Creek
This lazy river gives a grand circle tour of the park that everyone in the family can enjoy, regardless of height. A perfect way for the family to relax together.
Melt-Away Bay
This wave pool is 1 acre and accessible to anyone. Float along and enjoy the rolling motion of the simulated ocean.
Runoff Rapids
This section of the park has three family friendly slides designed for all to enjoy. Each of the three slides gets it’s propulsion from Mount Gushmore runoff.
Ski Patrol Training Camp
The training camp is an imaginative play area with a training course, zip line, and four low intensity slides for kids and tweens to enjoy. The zip line sends kids into 8.5 ft water and requires that guests be under 5 feet to ride.
Snow Stormers
Another fun-for-all-ages attraction is this set of three 350 ft. long winding waterslides that send guests through separate slalom courses down a shallow incline on their bellies.
Team boat Springs
This is a white water rafting experience in an inner tube raft that seats six. It’s fun for all ages. The minimum number of guests in a party is four. So, be prepared to share if you are a smaller group. The 1,200 ft. waterslide is full of wet surprises.
Toboggan Racers
Bring out your competitive side and challenge the whole family to a race down 8 lanes of 250 ft. water slide with multiple dips on board a toboggan. As with all the other attractions listed here, this is appropriate for guests of any height. It is a thrilling experience to “catch air” after each exhilarating dip.
Tike’s Peak
Now, just for the little ones 48 in. and shorter, Tike’s Peak is a play land that features miniature, non threatening slides. Children enjoying this area do need to be supervised by an adult.
Polar Patios
Renting a Polar Patio is a great way for your family to relax together during your day. Each reserved area accommodates up to 6 Guests and comes with a variety of premium amenities including towels, cushioned seating, a locker, refillable drink mugs and a cooler stocked with ice and bottled water. Plus, Attendants are on hand to help Patio Guests get the most out of the water park and to take your food order.
Dining
There were many dining options to pick from at Blizzard Beach, however we chose Lottawatta Lodge for the simple fact that they had chicken strips. My kids are super picky and will not anything other than Chicken and French Fries, however the selection from other dining establishments looked very good! If you can get the refillable cups that are only $11.99 it is well worth it!
