Did My Kids Like The Sonic Movie?
Recently we had the opportunity to screen the new “Sonic The Hedgehog Movie” I have to say as a family we were super stoked. My husband and I grew up with Sonic during our Sega Genesis days, and our boys are now reliving our childhood by also playing Sonic games.
So when we surprised them with the movie screening they were on cloud nine. Now I have to say while I thought the movie was great, I wanted to get my kid’s perspective on what they thought of the movie. This is why I actually interviewed my kids so here a couple of questions and their opinion of the film, mind you they are seven and four years old.

How was Sonic’s Animation?
G: I really liked how they made him look like the Sonic that is in the game and liked the way he moved like in the games.
S: I loved how they made him spin fast just like the game.
Favorite Character in the movie besides Sonic?
G: Doughnut Lord was my favorite character other than Sonic, he has a good heart who loves helping people in need.
S: I liked Doctor Robotnik, he was funny and had cool gadgets.
How did you like the story or moral of the movie?
G: Sonic was alone most of the time, and he had to hide from others. But then he was able to show himself and made friends along the way, he was also able to have a family. Family is so important mom I am glad we have our family and that Sonic found his in the end.
S: Finding family.

What did you think of Doctor Robotnik?
G: He was a little different than the games, in the games he was bald but he had hair in the movie. I liked his mustache, he was also pretty funny. He was also skinny in the movie vs the game looked like he went on a diet. I did like that he looked like the game Robotnik at the end of the movie.
S: I thought he was cool and funny, I really liked his flying aircraft because it was fast like Sonic.
The funniest part of the movie?
G: There were too many for me to remember but the part where Sonic grabs the turtle and takes it for a run was very funny.
S: Sonic playing tricks on Doughnut Lord.
Would you like to see a Sonic the Hedgehog 2?
G: Yes! I would love a second one, but I would like to see the whole gang in it, Like Amy, Tails, and Knuckles.
S: Yes! I want to see Tails.
Favorite part of the movie?
G: When Sonic lights up super blue and then shoots out lightning! His powers were amazing especially when he was trying to defend his friends.
S: Sonic going super fast and beating Egg-Man.
Did My Kids Like The Sonic Movie?
As you can see my kids had their opinions of the movie, and I have to say I agree with them. As adults, I can tell you there were some quite hysterical moments in the movie. James Marsden and Jim Carrey play off of each other wonderfully, and the fact that we got to see Jim Carrey back in action was fantastic.
There was this sense of 90’s nostalgia that took me back to the Ace Ventura days, and that type of Jim Carrey comedy.
Super glad the animation came through better, as Sonic looked closer to what he looks like in the video games. I have to say it was like reliving my childhood.
All around a great movie for families with a great moral, it also leaves great topics to discuss with your kids. About feeling alone, the sense of having no friends, or feeling afraid, but overall how important a family unit is.
