Sick of constantly replacing old and worn out clothing items? This can certainly cause problems once the expense of it all starts to build up, but having to hit the shops all the time for replacement garments can become super tiresome. Well, this blog post is here to save you. Read on for all of the useful clothing hacks you need to keep your wardrobe in the best condition! (I had to use my husband for the post 🙂 )
Put Shoes In The Freezer
There’s nothing worse than getting a new pair of shoes home only to find that they are a size too small for you. You will probably end up taking them back to the shop and swapping them or getting a refund. But there is a way around this – you just need to stretch the shoes, and there is one very easy way to do this: place them in the freezer! This might sound slightly ludicrous but it really does work. Fill some freezer bags with water and place these in the shoes before they go in the freezer. The water will then freeze and expand, causing the material in the shoes to stretch.
Leave The Silk Bathrobe In The Shops
Tempted by a silk bathrobe? Don’t be. That material won’t help your skin dry after you’ve been in the bath as it isn’t very absorbent. In fact, it can make it difficult for the skin to breathe, which can cause you to sweat slightly more. If you are wondering how to use a bathrobe correctly, there are plenty of online guides that can give you guidance. But the general rule of thumb to always go with is that it needs to be made from an absorbent material, like flannel or cotton.
Clean With White Vinegar
One of the most annoying things we have to deal with is yellow deodorant stains on your clothes. These develop over a long period of time and usually can’t be washed off with regular washing powders. But there is a way you can remove them – you just need to soak the garment in a solution of white vinegar and cold water. After about an hour or so, should drain off the clothes and pop them into the washing machine as usual. If that doesn’t seem to make a difference, soak them for slightly longer next time so that the vinegar has plenty of time to get to work.
Don’t Be Scared To Get Creative
If one of your items of clothing is getting a bit worn and tired, you can always try and breathe a new lease of life into it by altering it. For instance, if a long-sleeved top is developing holes or getting frayed on the sleeves, simply cut them off to create a short-sleeve T-shirt. Customizing clothes is a fantastic way to jazz up your wardrobe and create exciting new clothes out of your old ones!
As you can see, you don’t have to be a clothing expert to use these hacks to improve your wardrobe. So, what are you waiting for!?
