(*Disclosure-I was invited to an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles courtesy of Disney to attend the #WrinkleInTimeEvent & #ABCTVEvent in exchange for my coverage. No other compensation was provided. All views shared are completely my own.)
When I was growing up, I always wanted to act. I love getting in front of an audience and making people laugh. I love being able to recreate a story, and being able to bring it to life through plays. So, when the opportunity arose for me to attend the #WrinkleInTimeEvent, I was overwhelmed! This small town Hispanic little girl, who grew up in Panama, was finally getting her dream come true.
The whole experience leading up to the red carpet event was just amazing. I was able to share time with both of my aunts, who helped me pick out my dress and accessories, as well as one of my dear friends, who is always cheering me on from the sidelines. Even though they could not be there physically on the carpet, I felt like my whole family was with me the moment I stepped onto that blue carpet. I was not only representing my family, but my small little country where I come from.
I thought of each one of them as I was walking down the carpet and taking pictures, thinking about how supportive my husband was in helping me get to the event, and how proud my kids would be when they get older, when they get to see their mom mingling amongst top celebrities. Most importantly, I want them to know that with hard work, they can achieve their dreams as well.
While I was on the blue carpet, I was able to take some pictures of a few of the cast members from A Wrinkle In Time getting interviewed. I saw Chris Pine who plays “Mr. Murry”, Bellmay Young who has a small role, Rowan Blanchard who plays “Veronica”. The list goes on.
Once we arrived into the El Capitan Theater to watch the movie, we had to turn in our phones so I could not take pictures. I was super bummed because there were so many celebrities in one place; however, one of the highlights of my night was that I got to sit next to Anthony Anderson from ABC’s “Black-ish.” He is super funny in real life and very sweet. I was able to have some small talk with him.
After we watched the movie we attended the after party that was being held next door. It was quite a sight to see. The whole place was full of celebrities. The event included face painting, food, drinks and so much more. I was literally standing next to Angela Bassett. I could just point a finger out and touch her! I was able to get some pictures of Ava DuVernay who directed the film, Storm Reid who portrays “Meg Murry”, Mindy Kaling “Mrs. Whats-it”, and Winston Duke from Marvel’s Black Panther.
Just to be in the same room as all of these amazing actors was such an incredible moment! I will never forget such a wonderful experience and I am glad I got to share it with some amazing people!
