Sadly, babies are susceptible to skin problems. One day, their skin is as smooth and silk, and the next there is a rash. And, it doesn’t stop at rashes because they can contract all types of problems. Of course, as the mom, you want to keep it looking silky for the foreseeable future or at least until they grow up and it is their responsibility. So, if you are worried about your baby’s skin, you have come to the right place. Below is the advice you need to follow to protect it and keep it as fresh as the day they were born.
Switch Detergents
Adult skin is a lot better at dealing with harsh materials and ingredient. Therefore, the detergent you use now may not have an effect on you or the rest of the family. However, babies are different. Because their skin is sensitive, anything that is harsh will cause a rash or even the onset of an illness. So, commercial fabric softeners need to go. In their place, you need to use ones which are specifically for soft skin. That way, the sheets won’t irritate their skin and cause it to become itchy or redden.
Keep Out Of The Sun
Probably the biggest danger to a baby’s skin is the sun. Quite simply, it is too powerful for young kids and can really do a lot of damage. Just five to ten minutes in the sun is enough to cause them to burn. Of course, sunblock is a great tool to ensure that any UV rays aren’t damaging. But, there is only so much a cream can do against the sun’s rays. Instead, try and keep them out of the sunlight as much as possible. Wherever you can, cover up their skin and always make them wear a hat.
Check Toys
This is a weird one because you don’t hear it often, but kid’s toys can damage their skin. Again, like bed sheets and clothes, it has to do with the chemicals that are too strong for most children. And, the toys can do a lot of harm because they play with them so often. The trick is to buy organic baby toys that don’t contain the same chemicals. That way, you can be certain that there is nothing untoward seeping into their skin at play time. To take it one step further, replace all their current toys with organic alternatives.
Apply Moisturizer
Even if there isn’t an issue, moisturizer is a must for all small babies. The reason is protection. Quite simply, just because they don’t have any issues now doesn’t mean they won’t occur in the future. So, by applying the cream on a daily basis, you can lower the chances of any skin problems. All you have to do is apply evenly and at least once a day. For the best effects, do it twice, once when they wake up and once before bed.
Also, try to avoid too much showering as it takes moisture out of the skin.
