This post is in partnership with Disney, while I was given tickets to experience Toy Story Land. all opinions are my own.
The New Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios brings a much needed kid friendly element to a theme park famous for its thrill rides. Now there is a place in the park that puts the focus on kids and let’s adults be kids, too. In short, Toy Story Land encapsulates why Walt Disney went into the theme park business to begin with. Toy Story Land shrinks guests down to the size of toys and places them right in the middle of Andy’s backyard. Here are some of the fun ways to experience Toy Story Land with kids.
PIN FOR LATER:
The first thing you notice as you enter Toy Story Land is the change in environment. If you have ever experienced the other Toy Story Lands around the world (or Flik’s Fun Fair in California), you’ll be familiar with the use of bamboo to create the feeling that you are surrounded by tall blades of grass. Lots of other design elements went into scaling humans down to the size of toys and there are plenty of details to point out.
One way to elicit excitement from children in Toy Story Land is to play a game of how many creative uses of common items they can find around the land. Enlarged toys, popsicle sticks, and notebook paper are but a few. Ask them if they can find Andy’s footprint, too.
Enjoy kid size thrills
The Disney’s Hollywood Studios version of Toy Story Land is totally unique and has three different kid friendly attractions.
Slinky Dog Dash
The Roller Coaster Andy built and modified using Slinky Dog as the train is a perfect first roller coaster for kids to try. There is a height requirement, but a low one. This is not an intense ride, but the fact that “you must be this tall” kind of adds to the allure. The minimum height is 38″. There is no direct age correlation, but it amounts to about 3 or 4 years of age.
Alien Swirling Saucers
This ride is a toy playset from Pizza Planet, themed to the aliens from the claw machine. The spinning and swirling ride whips you around quite a bit so hold on tight. Kids only need to be 32″ to ride this one, which on average is about 2 years old. Again, the requirements are not based on age, only height.
Toy Story Mania
No height requirement for this one! But make sure the 3D glasses fit on your little one’s heads. This Hollywood Studios favorite has a new entrance within the borders of Toy Story Land. It’s a fun carnival game playset themed to the Toy Story characters. Ride from game to game and rack up as many points as you can in this interactive 3D attraction unlike any other.
Awesome Kids Meals
When your kids work up an appetite head on over to Woody’s Lunch Box. The gigantic props give new definition to upscale dining. Pull up a Baby Bell and sit down to some inspired sandwiches and desserts. Here are a few great choices for kids:
Breakfast
The S’more French Toast Sandwich is the biggest hit of the Kids Meal options. If your feeling jealous, you can get an adult version for yourself. For a healthier Kids Meal get the Smoked Turkey Breakfast Sandwich.
Lunch/Dinner
There are two really good Kids Meal options for lunch and dinner. The three-cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich and the Turkey Sandwich are each great choices, but the Turkey is more filling and a better value.
Don’t forget to order the Mystic Portal Punch. It comes with or without a souvenir cup. The bright green Powerade berry and citrus blend resembles the glowing green drink served at Pizza Planet in the first Toy Story.
