As a mom, a blogger, and a homeschooling parent, people ask me all the time how can you do it all? It is not easy by any means to juggle all of these things but I manage it with timing and the right curriculum.
Math has always been a real struggle for me; it was a struggle in school and to this day is still a struggle. My husband is a bit better than me in Math but also struggles with it; I can do basic Math pretty well. However, when it comes to Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and beyond, you have pretty much lost me down a rabbit hole!
Since Math is a struggle for both me, and my husband we started at looking for different options we could offer our son in the long run. My oldest is 5 years old and so we are wrapping up VPK, going into Kindergarten next August. At this age you have to be really engaging since their attention span is very limited! We use a couple of different learning tools online.
Here are Five tutoring websites to help your homeschooling efforts:
1.MathWizTutors
They are a national company, and what I like about them is that you can have a Math tutor come to your house, or have tutoring online. https://www.mathwiztutors.com
MathWiz Tutors makes it really easy for students or parents to post what type of Math Tutor you are looking for. When posting a tutor request, you are able to specify grade level requirements, subject requirements, location requirements, if you want a local tutor or an online tutor and a whole lot more.
They work hard behind the scenes to match you up with top quality tutors that fit your requirements. You will receive email messages with the matches and can view tutor profiles which include their experience, ratings, background check and more. You contact the tutors you like and have full control of which tutor you hire.
Every Math Tutor listed through our service has a profile page. From this page, you are able to view information about the tutor such as experience, qualifications, ratings & reviews, background checks and more. Keep in mind that the experience and qualifications on Tutor profiles are listed by the Tutor themselves so we suggest you verify this information.
You also get to discuss how much each tutor charges, which is perfect if you are on a budget like me! Which is one of the things I like about their services, you can also pay to have a background check performed on a Tutor if they do not have one. You can basically tailor the tutoring based on how your child learns, if your child is a hands-on learner you can look up a local tutor. If your child is older and does better with online classes, they also have the option of long distance learning.

3.Lego
Lego are one of our favorite tools to use when doing Math, not only does my son love playing with them. We learn about colors, architecture and Math all at the same time! We use the Lego Duplo because they do have some that already come numbered, like their train set or car set.
So while my son puts them together I ask him to also go ahead and count them.A tip also that has helped is numbering the Lego, for the purpose of helping on how to Add and Subtract.

4.Cooking
You might be wondering why I put Cooking on the list! Truth be told you need Math in cooking. From the time you place vegetables or meat in your skillet to, how much rice you need to measure out. These are all essential Math skills that can be learned in a fun environment. That is why I let my son cook with me at least once a day usually dinner time. It is a great time to have some family time, and learn! Probably our favorite things to make are cakes, because we have to count eggs, and measure a lot of different ingredients.
5.Life
Yes, that’s right Life! I am not crazy, so do not worry! But yes Life, every single day of our lives we use Math without even realizing it, from the time we get out of bed until we go to sleep.
We use Math when we count out Cash, when we double check our bank accounts, cooking, when we take our medicine, when we order something online. The list goes on and on, that is how simple and yet so amazing homeschool is!
Our kids learn on a daily basis without us even realizing it, and at the same time we are teaching them how to budget, life skills, and how to be decent human beings.
