Florida is well-known for its crazy weather conditions, a mountain of restaurants and cafes, and of course Walt Disney World in Orlando. But there is more to this state than you may realize, and today we are delving into just one area of the state to see what else Florida has to offer the world.
Navy SEAL Museum
The museum is located just outside of Fort Pierce and is dedicated to educating the public about the work of Navy Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT); as well as the Sea, Air and Land members of the force. The museum was established in 1985 and includes a host of memorabilia and personal artifacts from members of the armed forces during World War II, where many lost their lives in battle.
The central focus of the museum is the UDT-SEAL memorial, which is made of a 9-foot tall bronze sculpture of a Navy SEAL. It is the only memorial in the world which is solely dedicated to the Navy SEAL and UDT members who gave their lives in the war.
Jetty Park
Jetty Park is an incredibly popular tourist destination in the area and consists of 35 acres filled with various activities. They have rentable pavilions to spend the weekend with your friends and family, a beach and even a fishing pier for those inclined. The beach includes 4.5 acres of sand and chairs are provided for all guests. Surfing is a popular pastime here.
St. Lucie County Aquarium – Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit
The Smithsonian is renowned for not only displaying fish tanks but creating fully working ecosystems in the water. The displays are fascinating and if you love animals, this is definitely a must-see.
Sunrise Theatre
This historic theatre was built-in 1922 and is known widely as the cultural center of Fort Pierce. In its time it has hosted countless Operas, stage shows and concerts by artists such as Diana Ross, Bryan Adam, and Willy Nelson.
Downtown Fort Pierce

Manatee Observation & Education Center
The goal of the Manatee observation center is to educate the public about the fragile ecosystems in which these stunning creatures and other sea creatures currently live in the wild. You will be able to learn about the Manatee, watch them swim around and see a host of other creatures as you visit.
Heathcote Botanical Gardens
The botanical gardens of Fort Pierce began as a commercial nursery but soon transformed into botanical gardens welcoming visitors from all over the world. Some of the displays which are currently at the gardens include a Reflection Garden, Herb Garden, Rainforest Display and Native Plants Garden; bringing elements from all over the world to create a stunning display of plants.
