If you’re looking to plan your family vacation for next year, then a staycation in the good ol’ USA could be the thing for you. You can keep costs down when you’re staying relatively close to home and you know you’ll have access to everything that you need for your little ones. But what about the eastern US? What are some of the best vacation spots? The east coast has plenty to offer, from sandy beaches, to bustling cities, tourist attractions, and historic towns. Here are just a few of the best places to go, the things to see, and the places to stay.
Orlando, Florida
Could I even talk about the east coast without mentioning Florida and Disney? Not likely! If you want fun for all ages, then a trip to the Disney parks in Orlando is a must. There are so many hotels to stay in the area, that there will be something for every budget too.
Portland, Maine
Right at the tip of the country, Maine is a place like no other. The state, and in particularly Portland, has a rich maritime history, so there are plenty of boats and sea life to see. A whale watching tour can be fun as a family, as well as enjoying the beaches and seafood restaurants.
Norwalk, Connecticut
If avoiding the Big Apple appeals to you, then Norwalk in closeby Connecticut could be the best place to escape to. There is a stepping stones museum for children that is interactive and fun, as well as the Maritime Aquarium with simulator rides and exhibits. It has a pretty eclectic neighborhood too, along with trendy restaurants and stores.
Shepherdsville, Kentucky
If you are into your fine wines, then Shepherdsville is the place to visit! It has several wineries and vineyards to explore, with even the chance to crush grapes and make your own wine. As such, you’re likely to want to have somewhere to stay over, perhaps like the Sleep Inn and Suites – Shepherdsville for somewhere with a pretty good location in the city. Shepherdsville is a good spot for flea markets and golf courses too, so you could easily spend a few days in the area.
Princeton, New Jersey
It is one of the world’s most famous college towns, but there is more than just the college that makes the place a good spot to visit. With art museums, historic monuments, and a George Washington sculpture, it can be the perfect educational spot for your little ones.
Montauk, Long Island
If you’re looking for a quick but luxurious getaway, then the idyllic setting of Montauk could be the place for you and your family. Lighthouses and picturesque views make it a picture perfect setting, with some stunning and well-preserved beaches. Fishing is one of the best things to do in the area, as well as relaxing on the beach.
