I’ll be the first to admit it…I’m always a bit skeptical of cars. In my mind, a lot of the “frills” that come along with them aren’t really anything that my family or myself use, so I’ve always been in the mindset to have function over fashion. Up until recently, this thought process has worked pretty well. Now that our family is getting older and bigger, I’ve realized that there are a few things that I’d love to have in our everyday family car. If you’re on the hunt for an upgrade to your primary family vehicle, here are some great reasons why you should consider the Chevy Equinox as your next family car!
A week ago, I had the opportunity to drive myself and my family around in a 2018 Chevy Equinox Premier. Remember earlier when I said I didn’t think I needed any of those “frills”? Wrong…I was so wrong. I never knew how much I needed these features!

Safety features are a top priority on the 2018 Chevy Equinox
When it comes to finding a good family car, I want each and every one of us to feel safe, 100% of the time. It’s safe to say that when I’m driving down the road, I’m transporting the most precious cargo ever and I want a vehicle that keeps my family safe. The Equinox has a backup camera that keeps our rear end covered, plus it also alerts me to anyone or anything that may be hiding just out of sight.
In addition to the awesome backup camera, I fell head over heels for the Forward Collision Alert and the Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking. Anything that will help keep myself and my family out of harm’s way and help to prevent an accident from happening is a major, major bonus in my book!
It honestly feels as though the Chevy Equinox has eyes all around the outer body of the vehicle because it also alerts me if I’m venturing too far or close to driving outside of my lane with the Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning. Driving with all these safety features is truly really great!
While the backup camera is amazing, the Chevy Equinox upped the bar and equipped this amazing vehicle with a Surround Vision Camera. Not only can I see behind me, but I can also see around all my sides and angles as well.
Have I mentioned how much I love these safety features? Any safety feature that can actually help keep my family safe is no longer a “frill” but becomes a much-needed feature!

The inside of the Chevy Equinox is super spacious!
It’s an understatement to say that my kiddos and I like to have leg room. It’s almost like we have an invisible bubble surrounding us to give us our own space. We were skeptical to get in and sit in the seats of the Equinox, but we were beyond happy with all the space and leg room that we had!
We also knew that we needed to test out the trunk space as well, so away to a local pumpkin farm we went. Just how many pumpkins could we fit into our trunk space? (There’s a joke in there somewhere, I just know it!) We had room for several pumpkins without any sort of issue and a TON more space left over. I feel quite confident saying that the trunk space of the Chevy Equinox could hold multiple suitcases with ease for your next family road trip vacation.

It’s easy to maneuver and a breeze to drive
People tend to attribute SUV’s as being “bulky” and “hard to drive”, but I honestly felt as though this just wasn’t the case. It was nimble, quick and handled my sporadic driving with ease. Even my backseat drivers were loving riding in the back each and every time we took it out for a spin!
All in all, I can’t rave enough about the 2018 Chevy Equinox. The safety features alone make it a sure-fire winner for keeping your family safe during travels. Once you add in the space and the look, why would you even consider any other options out there?
FALL FAMILY FUN WITH THE CHEVROLET EQUINOX
My last comment regarding the importance of having a safe family car? Be aware and be safe this Halloween with your Chevy Equinox.
- Drive slow and be aware of trick or treaters
- Leave the tricks at home, and always buckle up yourself and your family
- Costumes are for show, but not for driving – Take off your masks or bulky shows when behind the wheel
And most of all? Have fun transporting your little “monsters” this Halloween holiday! The Chevy Equinox can hold 1 alien, 1 cat, 1 witch, 2 zombies, and a Captain Underpants. (car safety included, costumes are not)
