Recently we had the opportunity to see a screening of Black Widow before it hits theaters and Disney Plus on July 9th. From start to finish this was a Marvel movie that needed to be made. For too long we have seen Natasha Romanoff be a big key player in all of the Marvel movies starting with Iron Man and leading up to the end of Endgame.
It was time for her to have her own movie, what I love is that we get to see her back story that for so long we see glimpses of in The Avengers movie. For the first five minutes, you are captivated by what she had to endure as a child and some of the sacrifices she had to go through.
What we learn is that there isn’t just one Black Widow but many and that they are indoctrinated at a young age to be the killing machines that they are. We also learn about Natasha’s family which you will see is not what you think it is. I don’t want to give away any spoilers.
If you have read any of the comics then you should be familiar with some of the Black widow storyline. The best part of the movie for me was how much of a female lead cast this was. Scarlett Johanssen always delivers on her portrayal of Natasha, and the level of action in this movie is unreal.
The action sequences were throughout the whole film, which as we know any Marvel movie has however this was from start to finish. My adrenaline was pumping the whole time, there is a fight scene halfway through the movie where there are a lot of widows and you can tell just how much of a bad mama jamma Black Widow is.
In terms of family-friendly, this is a movie I would recommend for 10 and up, due to the amount of action and violence it has. It could be a bit much for the younger kiddos. Other than that it is like any other Marvel movie, in terms of the amount of cuss words which are few.
I highly recommend seeing Black Widow in the theater to get the full surround sound and movie experience, however, you can also access it via Disney Plus for $29.99.
