Honda is celebrating 50 years of Hond civic, and those 50 years could not have culminated with a better type of Civic the 2023 Type R. The 11th-generation Civic makes a great base for a righteous hot hatch, and while some may miss the wild looks of the last Type R, there’s no doubt this one is setting itself up to be taken more seriously by buyers and the industry alike.
One thing that is making the 2023 Honda Civic Type R so appealing, and creating a buzz is the MSRP on this bad boy could be starting out at $39k which let’s face it in the wake of inflation it’s still an attainable price for most. So you might be asking yourself what is the difference and all of the hype for the 2023 model compared to its previous year? Here is a list of just a few changes you can expect to see.
Engine power
The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is paired with an improved six-speed manual transmission and rev-matching system, the new Civic Type R is the fastest, most powerful Honda-branded vehicle ever offered in the U.S. I have to tell you having a Honda Civic from the ’90s that was also a manual transmission it is impressive to see just how far the Honda Civic has come along.
Fashion Interior Paradise
The inside of the 2023 Type R is quite the site, and I have to say the sleek red seats with black interior gave me some Devil wears Prada vibes. As I looked over the interior I immediately thought of how many outfits I could color coordinate with the car as well as feeling like I could totally pull off some epic red lipstick to coordinate as well.
Manual Speed Transmission
Ladies while a six-speed transmission sounds intimidating, this is probably going to be one of those cars where it would be easy to learn how to drive a six-speed transmission. While I can’t say how smooth the ride will be yet I will soon this would be a great car to get as most manuals are becoming a dying breed.
Tires
Safety is always a big thing for me, especially since I am almost always in the car with my kids and one thing I always check on cars are the tires and brakes. The 2023 Honda Civic Type R has the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires wrapped around 19-inch wheels, Michelin produces some of the best tires out there and when I saw the Brembo brakes I was sold.
From what I have seen Honda has a real winner with the new Type R I am excited to test drive it soon and will update this post with my thoughts on how the car drives, as well as what the price will really be.
