Nobody embraces the idea of Christmas Cards. Let’s be honest; it’s one of those chores we do simply because people send them to us. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy with no end in sight. And, it’s around this time of year that we start to consider the cards we’re going to send.
The easy option would be a cheap multi-pack from your local store. It’s the thought that counts, right? But, going down this route could be a missed opportunity to let people you don’t see know how your family is doing. This is, after all, often the only interaction we have with distant family members. Which is why it’s worth taking this opportunity to update people with a creative family Christmas card. Not to mention that doing something different could ensure you have fun with cards this year. Here are some ideas to get you going!
A picture perfect card
The most obvious way to update people would be to send a picture card of the whole family. If you’re willing to go all out, you could hire a photographer to capture the perfect snap. That way, you can ensure your cards look professional. Or, you could take the pictures on your camera phone.
Whatever you choose, it’s possible to have a lot of fun with this. You don’t need to do the traditional sitting and smiling pose., either Instead, aim for a picture which captures your family values. You could aim for a candid picture of you all playing together. Or, you could take a snap of the family making Christmas pudding. You could even opt for something humorous. Photoshop can be a huge help here. You could even transform yourselves into reindeer if you have the know how.
An artsy family effort
If a picture card seems a step too far for you, you could always opt for an artsy creation by the whole family. You could all work together to design and create a Christmas card. Or, you could create a collage of all your best creations from the year. This is an excellent way to show distant relatives what you’ve all been up to. And, it’s a fantastic chance to show off your kid’s achievements. Forget putting things on the front of the fridge; send them in a card and be loud and proud!
Let people know what you like
Or, you could opt for a card which includes all your favorite things. A collage would work well here, or a ‘top ten’ style grid. This is an excellent way to show people what the whole family is enjoying. Again, it’s a fantastic way to include loved ones in your lives. Plus, this is a relatively low-effort affair. If you don’t have much time, this could be the option for you. Instead of having to make anything, head to Photoshop, or other editing tools, and past and copy your card designs in a matter of minutes. Then, a printing company can take care of the rest!
