As many of you know we like to write our reviews from a family perspective and in some cases our kids perspective. So here is our review on the film from Geo and Seba’s perspective.
Q & A
Q: Who was your favorite character in the movie?
G: Well I loved all of the superhero characters in the movie, but my favorite character was Flora. I liked how she also liked comic books and, and how she tried to bring her parents back together. Flora reminds me of me and how much I like helping people and just want to see people happy. She also helps her mom realize that she is an awesome mom just like you!
S: Ulysses was my favorite, I wish I could catch a squirrel that would protect me like him. I really liked how funny he was, and all of his superpowers. Especially him flying through the air that was one of my favorite parts of the movie with him.
Q: What scene do you think was the funniest?
G: There were so many funny moments but I really thought the part where Flora and her dad are in the cafe and discover that Ulysses has powers. And the waitress wants to see what’s in Flora box and sees its a squirrel and wants to pet it. Only to find out its Ulysses and she freaks out and then Ulysses goes flying everywhere an eventually the big doughnut roll off into the street. I thought that part was hilarious.
S: Mine was when the bad guy goes to Flora’s dad’s house and they accidentally let the cat out, and the cat starts chasing the bad guy! That was so funny how he had to fight off the cat, and that cat was scary I don’t want a cat that is that crazy!
Q: What is one thing you learned from the movie?
G: I learned that it’s ok to be yourself, and that we should not let anyone change us. In the movie Flora’s friend is blind, but after he realizes it’s ok to be himself he can see. We all need to be like this, Flora’s dad left because he thought comic book and superheros weren’t good because nobody gave him a job. But with Ulysses help he found out that family is what matters, and my family matters to me more than anything in the world.
S: Family is important, and that we are superheros we all have different superpowers. Mine is helping Geo or you mom.
There you have it from the thoughts of a five year old and an eight year old! I can honestly say this was an amazing film that had all of the components you would want in a family film. We laughed, we cried, and we had room to have conversations about how we need to keep going in life even when we get those “No’s”.
Flora & Ulysses is the perfect family film for all ages, I suggest that you not only see the movie but also take the time to read the book with your kids.
