One year after the events of the original Rock Dog, Bodi and his band, True Blue, have become locally famous in the village of Snow Mountain—they even have devoted fans! But when a music mogul named Lang gives them the opportunity to tour with pop sensation Lil’ Foxy, Bodi and his friends learn that fame comes at a price, and ultimately discover that only by staying true to yourself can you unleash the power of rock ‘n’ roll!

Recently I had the opportunity to interview Ashleigh Ball – Who plays “Darma” in the film you may also recognize Ashleigh from other series and characters she has voiced like (My Little Pony franchise, TV’s “Ready Jet Go!,” “Rev & Roll”)
We were huge fans of the first movie “Rock Dog”, and I highly suggest watching it and then watching the sequel trust me the whole family will enjoy a Rock Dog marathon.
The original came out in 2016 produced by Mandoo Pictures and Huayi Brothers. The film is directed by Ash Brannon in his solo directorial debut, from a script by Brannon and Kurt Voelker. The film based on the Chinese graphic novel Tibetan Rock Dog by Zheng Jun, albeit its basic premise has been significantly altered. It features the voices of Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard, J. K. Simmons, Lewis Black, Kenan Thompson, Mae Whitman, Jorge Garcia, Matt Dillon, and Sam Elliott. The film follows a young Tibetan Mastiff who leaves his mountain home village to become a rock musician in the big city after a radio falls from the sky.
Needless to say, the kids were super excited to find out that “Darma” was Rainbow Dash! As a family, we really enjoyed the film, and we really enjoyed the songs in the film they were quite catchy. Together, they go on a journey and learn about the realities of fame and staying true to themselves. Something that can be applied to life in general!
