Eating healthy for many of us is almost like a punishment. We’d much rather just eat fatty foods with lots of sugar and salt because those are the three things that make food taste delicious. The common fruits we get used to, like apples, bananas and oranges get boring after a while, and thus you remember exactly what they taste like generally as part of your day. But fruit should be fun, and exotic fruits like melons, peaches, mangos and other delicious light-colored nutritious foods can be part of your daily diet. Being imaginative to somehow work them into your breakfast, lunch and dinner requires a bit of thinking not to make even those implementations become boring. This is why perhaps it’s much better to have them as snacks and on the go.
Homemade fruit bowl
Fruit cups and bowls have become huge marketing ploys by companies to get people to eat healthier. Small and already made, they are convenient and thus can cost as much as rival items like soup cups, cold pasta or sandwiches. However, you can make these at home and have them in exotic groups where the flavors will be able to melt into each other and bounce around. Cut up little mangos, and then cut up small pieces of peaches. The tanginess of the mango will go well with the juicy, sugary peach. To include a touch of a spike in the mix of flavors, you could add something sharp like a cherry or blackcurrant.
Quenching the thirst
Eating exotic fruits as part of your diet doesn’t have to be purely in the solids. Smoothies are a great way to get healthy foods into your system without actually having to eat them one by one. Pomegranate and grapefruit, as well as lychees, would make for a great smoothie drink which you can have on the go. These fruits aren’t as thick as others like bananas and peaches. They are more so acidic which make for drinks which will last longer throughout the day. However for drinks with a higher water content, but still have that exotic sun-kissed fruit style, something like bottled watermelon water would be awesome. Refreshing and completely natural, with no artificial chemicals, and no calories at all, this drink is for those who want something pure-tasting and with the flavor of watermelon infused into the water.
Barbecue skewers
When you have a barbecue, the meat is obviously the star of the show. However rather than cook the traditional vegetables like green beans, bell peppers and onions, you could make skewers made out of purely exotic fruits. Sweet and sharply acidic, foods like pineapple, passion fruit, jackfruit and even squash make for some great skewers you can try with bbq wings. These skewers would be great as part of your food box while you’re on the go. Simply wrap them in clingfilm, and you can keep them fresh and ready all the way into midday, ready to eat with your lunch.
Including exotic fruits in your diet is much easier if you include them in your diet while you are on the go. Exotic fruits are lively and add some new flavors into your daily nutritious food. Better than the normal oranges and bananas, pineapples and passion fruits make for great additions to a fruit bowl.
