What type of apples should you use for apple pie?
This all just depends on the type of texture that you’re wanting. If you’re wanting soft apples, use red delicious as your apples of choice.
But if you’re wanting apples that are a bit crisp, you can use Pink Lady or Honeycrisp. Granny Smith apples also work well but they are a bit more tart!
How to make Apple Pie
Once you make this simple apple pie, you’re never going to have to buy another one from the store ever again. (And trust me…homemade tastes so much better!)
Ingredients needed for this simple pie recipe
- 2 sheets of pie dough
- 5 apples
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup of butter
- ¼ cup of brown sugar
- 1 tbsp of rice flour
Directions to make Sweet Apple Pie
Roll out 1 sheet of dough onto a pie baking plate
Slice apples and place in a non-stick pan
Add butter, cinnamon, and sugar and cook on medium-low until apples are soft
Sprinkle rice flour and stir in. This will help the mixture thicken up
Scoop apple pie filling into the pie plate

Roll out the second sheet of dough and cut into 6 strips
Lay 3 strips lengthwise and then weave the other three the other direction

Place pie in a 350-degree oven for 35 minutes or until the top is bubbling and lightly brown.
