Thanksgiving Shepherd’s Pie
The great thing about Thanksgiving is that it’s a time to sit down and be thankful for everything that we have in our lives. And even though 2020 has been a rocky ride, there’s no doubt that we still have an abundance of great things going on as well.
Peel back the layers and take time to look around your holiday table this year. You’ve been given the gift of more family time this year which is something that many people long for.
In addition to that, you’re getting to sit around a holiday table that is loaded down with amazing food, just like this easy Thanksgiving Shepherd’s Pie.
Consider starting a new tradition this year where everyone goes around the table and mentions something that they’re thankful for. You’ll love seeing a perspective of the year and the joy in their hearts and might be shocked at what they say, too.
This Thanksgiving, don’t focus on what you don’t have. Instead, focus on what you do have and how you continue to nurture and guide that throughout the remaining part of this year and into the next. A positive mind will continue to yield positive results and what better time for that to happen than during the Thanksgiving holiday.
This recipe is one of our favorites and I hope you love it, too! (And PS – I’m so thankful for each and every one of you that support us along our blogging journey!)
Ingredients needed for Thanksgiving Shepherd’s Pie
- 1 package (about 2lbs) ground turkey
- 1 can of peas
- 1 can of corn
- 3 cups of Tasteful Selections Honey Gold potatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cranberry sauce and gravy for topping
How to Make Thanksgiving Shepherd’s Pie from Scratch
In a skillet, brown turkey with salt and pepper until fully cooked
When fully cooked scoop turkey out and into a pie pan
Add peas and corn as a second layer
Top with mashed potatoes. A simple mashed potato can be made with a bag or two of Tasteful Selections Honey Golden potatoes, added with ¼ cup of milk and 3 tbsp of butter. Whisk until smooth. You can locate a variety of Tasteful Selection potatoes here
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes
If you want to get fancy you can pipe the mashed potatoes on the pie.
Serve with cranberry sauce and gravy
As you can tell, this isn’t a hard recipe to do but it’s a hearty one that you can easily whip up with little effort at all. In fact, this might be one of the easiest Thanksgiving recipes, ever.
While you can choose toppings, you don’t have to have any, either. My kids like to add on shredded cheese on the top which takes it to a whole other flavor, too!
