We recently spent a glorious 48 hours exploring everything that there is to do and it’s safe to say that I’m obsessed.
Below you’ll find my top suggestions on great things to see, places to eat, and venues to explore at Florida’s Sports Coast.
3 Reasons To Add Florida’s Sports Coast to Your Radar
What’s not to love about Florida? The awesome weather, the great views, the nice people, and the abundance of activities are all at the top of the list. But just to be certain that we’re all on the same page, let’s break it down a bit and give you some specifics.
The food along Florida’s Sports Coast is the best
There is no doubt that you’re going to be hungry on your trip. Below are some tasty places to dine.
Widow Fletcher’s
The view of the water, while you’re dining, is amazing. There are options for steak and seafood and you’re going to love the flavors!

Lunch options
There are a ton of great lunch options here! Choose from Raining Berries, Ford’s Garage, Rockin Brews, Rice N’ Beans, Bubba’s 33, and the list could go on and on.
Figure out what you’re hungry for and then make a plan! There are so many cute places located all over that you’ll have to narrow it down!
Craft Street Kitchen
If you love eating local, check out this great option. From entrees to sandwiches, you’ll love every single bite. They also have an amazing Snickerdoodle Cookie Skillet so save room for dessert! (and if you have kids – they have a great kids menu!)

Other fun places to grab a bite to eat:
- Ottoway’s Ice Cream – need ice cream?
- Mountaineer Coffee – fuel up on caffeine here!
- Starkey Barn & Market – dog friendly!
- Wright’s Market – great options for natural snacks!
Overnight options are affordable and clean!
If you’re looking to book an extended stay, I have to highly recommend the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Tampa as your place of choice.
The rooms are clean, affordable, and offer the perfect resting place after a busy day of exploring. I loved having a room that I didn’t have to worry about ANYTHING about. The wi-fi was great and I felt safe and comfortable during our entire stay.

I can also say that the rooms provided plenty of space and room to never feel crowded as well! When I’m traveling with the family, this is always a BIG deal and something that I make certain to research. (You can’t crowd kids, right?!)
You’ll never run out of fun activities and things to do
If you’re ready to try new things, you’re in the right place! Below is just a small sampling of fun things to do on the Florida Sports Coast.
Captained Boat Ride to Anclote Key Preserve State Park

Spend some time on the waters at the state park! You’ll have a captain actually take you to and from the island and show you all the cool sights!
Spend the Day at Epperson Lagoon
Are you a water baby? Epperson Lagoon is where you need to be. Try paddleboarding or just spend some time lounging around the aqua park!

Inshore Fishing Charter with Captain Travis Paxton
Ready to go fishing? Head out with the captain to try and catch some fish! He knows the waters well as he was born and raised in the area! Who knows – you just might fall in love with the fisherman lifestyle and take up a new hobby!
The best thing is that with our oldest having ASD I always worry about where we travel because some destinations are not special needs friendly. However, I was quite pleased with the level of patience our captain had as well as with our hyperactive six-year-old!

As you can see, it’s easy to have a stay along the Florida’s Sports Coast that has something for everyone to do. From excursions to relaxing days of putting up your feet, you can easily spend a weekend or a week having a blast!
Check out the fun flavors and fun adventures and create a truly fun time for everyone! When it comes to visiting Florida, there are so many reasons to vacation here and so many reasons that you’re going to discover that will make you never want to leave!
