New changes are happening all over Walt Disney World as the 50th Anniversary Celebration closes in. Here are the top five new attractions we expect to see in the parks within the next couple of years.
Tron
Tomorrowland rumors are spreading like wildfire these days, with regards to the Magic Kingdom, but one thing we know for sure is that there is construction going on by Space Mountain and it is for a new Tron roller coaster. We’re expecting a nearly exact duplicate of the Tron attraction at Shanghai Disneyland. Tron went into Shanghai instead of Space Mountain. Now, the park that started Space Mountain is getting both. The coaster is going to emulate the light cycles seen in Tron Legacy and the animated series Tron Uprising. The first theme park usage of the world of Tron was on the Disneyland Peoplemover in 1982.
Ratatouille
Ratatouille is an amazing trackless ride that uses impressive scale of set pieces and 3D video to simulate the feeling that you are a rat scurrying around the floors of a busy kitchen. It’s so fun and exciting. This exact attraction is what is presumably under construction behind the France Pavilion in Epcot. Disney calls the experience similar, which begs the question “What will be different about it?”
Guardians of the Galaxy
Earlier this year Disney confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction coming to Epcot will be a roller coaster. They’ve designed one of the longest indoor coasters in the world. Not only that, the ride system is going to be totally new and innovative. We all assumed we would be getting a roller coaster, but what does new and innovative mean?
Mickey’s Runaway Railway
Anyone who has seen the awesome Mickey Mouse cartoons that have been coming out in recent years will be thrilled by the first ever Mickey themed attraction inspired by their style. For the first time since Roger Rabbit’s Car-Toon Spin, and with totally new technology, guests will be thrown into the cartoon world of Mickey and friends in a madcap railroad adventure. At least part of the hijinks will be due to Goofy conducting the train. The show elements promise to be like nothing else ever experienced and the ride should be a lot of fun.
Battle Escape
One of the new rides expected to hit Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is Stormtrooper Battle Escape, This is thought to be a trackless and wireless ride that gets guests caught in the middle of a battle with the First Order on board a space port. The wildest part of the whole thing is that the plans call for multiple experiences in which guests will have to exit and re-enter their vehicle, moving around on foot in the interim.
Which one are you excited to ride?
